Bizzaro World
What has the world come to when South Dakota’s 2 national Democrats vote like fiscal conservatives while our lone Republican votes for a pork laden Wall Street bailout bill? Stephanie Herseth Sandlin today joined fellow Democrat Tim Johnson, who vote nay a few days ago, when she was one of 171 that voted against the bailout. John Thune, our lone Republican voted for passage….
Yah, I don’t get that at all. My only guess it that John Thune had to please some fellow contributor(s) to his past campaign. There is supposed to be a site you can check to see who contributes and how much to each campaign. I would begin by seeing if any banks or bank lobbyists contributed a huge amount to the Thune campaign in 2004. Again, this is just a guess.
Bob,
What makes this even more bizzare, is that John Thune had a record of campaigning on “fiscal conservatism” before he ran for the Senate. He prided himself on supporting the balanced budget admendments when he was our Representative in the House back in the 1990’s (1997-03).
I just got done replying to Guy Smilie, he’s one of the “Wingnuts,” and says he’s all for “REVOLT” and “CLEANING HOUSE!” So, I shared with them an interesting fact you highlighted in this post and pretty much left them with the assumption that they would not be supporting their own man, John Thune after his support of the bailout…you know that they are so hell bent on “CLEANING HOUSE,” and that would have to include Thune too.
By the way, Bob, you probably noticed that my site has been down for almost a week. Sorry, for no warning…but I am working to GET DAKOTA 21 BACK ONLINE SOON. I’ll let you know when.
Later…
